Mr President, a tragedy occurred two days ago in Ethiopia with more than 60 people, mostly women and children, losing their lives in a landslide at a rubbish dump. This happened in a country which is a major recipient of funds from the EU. As well as expressing our solidarity with the people of Ethiopia, we should ask the Commission to enquire into the level of misgovernance and oppression that the EU is funding in Ethiopia today, where people are losing their lives at the mercy of a dictatorship which is totally anti-democratic.
