Written question to the Commission concerning goods originating from Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories
The European Union considers Israel's occupation of the West Bank, Gaza, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights illegal. In order to distinguish goods produced in Israel from goods produced in Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, on 4 November 2015, the EU decided to impose a labelling requirement on goods originating from the occupied territories.
Now that it is possible and practical to distinguish between these two different product categories, and given that the European institutions are bound to avoid violating international law, what measures, if any, is the Commission considering or has the Commission implemented in order to stop the import of goods produced in the occupied Palestinian territories by Israeli companies?
What measures is it considering or has it implemented to ensure that Member States enforce EC law and do not import goods produced by Israeli companies in those territories?
